Idle Screen Custom Instructions
The Custom Instructions feature in the admin portal allows you to add your own custom message to the Idle Screen. You can add a message up to 100 characters long.
This feature is particularly useful when making a connection to a Mersive device is more complicated than just using the screen key. For instance, when users and the device are on separate networks, users may need to switch networks before making the connection. This is most important when network isolation is involved. You can also adjust where on the screen your custom instructions should appear, or if no instructions should appear at all. There are three options for the instructions location:
Full Instructions: the full set of instructions are displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Footer Only: a minimal amount of text is displayed across the bottom of the screen.
Never Show: no instructions are displayed at all.
For digital signage, the footer and no instructions options will leave more screen area open and will not obstruct your images and video content. However, users may not see the instructions they need to connect and share to the display.
Warning
If you turn off the connection instructions, users will not be able to connect to a display until you turn the instructions back on, or if your instructions to connect are otherwise outlined on the custom signage you have created.
Log into the admin portal and select the device for which you want to set custom instructions. Device settings appear.
Under Idle Screen Instructions, select how you want the message to display (Full Instructions, Footer Only, or Never Show). Full instructions is the default.
To add a message, select Add Custom Instructions and type your message into the text field. Message length is limited to 100 characters, spaces included.
Select Apply.
