Solstice Cloud Release Notes

Release notes for Solstice Cloud are shown below, with the most recent release first.

April 12, 2023

Location Services and in-meeting reminder options deprecated. With updated Solstice Cloud architecture applied to all Solstice Cloud organizations, Mersive continues to evaluate the functionality and usefulness of Solstice features, resulting in some features being deprecated.

  • Configuration options for reminders about upcoming meetings starting soon that appeared when content was being shared in another meeting were removed from Room Intelligence template settings.

  • The option to enable Solstice Location Services has been removed from the Room Intelligence template settings.

New deployment tools for Solstice Cloud! Two new tools are now available to create a Solstice Cloud deployment organization and onboard Solstice Pods directly into Solstice Cloud management:

  • Join Solstice Cloud with cloud.mersive.com/create-org. The primary Solstice administrator should create a new Solstice Cloud organization with an email address not already associated with an account in Solstice Cloud management.

  • Onboard to Cloud with Solstice Deploy. Click Get Solstice Deploy at the bottom of the left navbar to download a deployment app for Windows and macOS. Multiple Gen3 or Gen2i Solstice Pods can be onboarded directly to Solstice Cloud, and optionally assigned Default templates, at the same time.

Delete Pod(s) option added to Pod Actions. Solstice Cloud administrators can now delete Solstice Pods from the Pod Template Management table (Manage > Pods). A new Delete Pod(s) option appears in the Pod Actions menu and can be applied to one or more selected Pods. This allows administrators to remove batches of Pods at one time. At this time, Pods may still be deleted one at a time from the Solstice Cloud Deployment table (Monitor > Deployment).

December 21, 2022

New Solstice background images available in Solstice Cloud. Accompanying the release of Solstice 5.5.2, six (6) new modern plant-life default background images are now available in Solstice Cloud management. Create a new Welcome Screen template to see these backgrounds and apply them to Solstice Pods in your deployment. Old background images will not be replaced in Welcome Screen templates created before this release.

October 13, 2022

Rollout of new Solstice Cloud management architecture. Mersive is in the process of migrating customer accounts to a version of Solstice Cloud with a re-architected back end. Users in migrated organizations shouldn't notice much difference, other than Solstice Cloud working more quickly and smoothly. In particular, management of Solstice Pod configurations with templates should be improved. An orange banner appears for users logged into migrated organizations at the top of Solstice Cloud management pages.

  • Solstice Pod admin users with migrated accounts should take note that Solstice Cloud settings for a Pod will now take precedence and will overwrite conflicting settings on the Pod itself. In the case of a settings mismatch, Cloud settings will always "win," with one exception, detailed below.

  • If a settings change in a Cloud template causes Solstice Cloud to be unable to connect to a Pod, the settings in that template group will be rolled back to the last working configuration for that Pod. A failure icon (red circle with exclamation mark) appears next to the template with a hover tooltip explaining that the template could not be applied. An exclamation mark will also appear in the green (online) icon next to the Pod name in this case.

Cloud setting to show or hide meetings on Solstice welcome screen. Admin users wishing to hide all meeting information from an integrated room calendar may now disable the ‘Show calendar overlay’ setting in the Calendar configuration template (Manage > Templates > Calendar and Manage > Pods > click Pod name > Calendar). When this setting is enabled, upcoming meeting information from the integrated room calendar is shown on the right overlay panel of the Solstice welcome screen. (This setting matches the existing Solstice Dashboard > Appearance and Usage > Customize Welcome Screen > Show calendar overlay setting.)

August 8, 2022

Room type usage and alerts map view on redesigned Solstice Cloud home page. The Solstice Cloud home page has been updated to a new, cleaner look. This update includes a new Usage by Room Type section based on configured room types (Categories). The Room Locations map is now larger and provides an option to display alerts data, in addition to usage data, for Solstice Pods managed in your Solstice Cloud organization.

May 27, 2022

New features and configuration options are now available in Solstice Cloud.

  • Single Sign-On to Solstice Cloud with Okta or Azure AD. Administrators interested in testing single sign-on (SSO) can be enabled to configure authentication with Okta or Azure Active Directory as an SSO identity provider (Manage > Organization > SSO). After both Solstice Cloud and the identity provider are configured, and matching user information is input on both ends, SSO-enabled users can choose to log in with SSO. Administrators can also configure users to only be able to log in with SSO (Manage > Organization > Users).

  • Downgrade a Pod to Solstice 5.4 in Solstice Cloud. With the release of Solstice 5.5, Solstice Pods can now be downgraded back as far as Solstice 5.4 using the Solstice Cloud portal (Manage > Pods > click Pod name > Pod Actions). Since the architecture for this functionality was first included in Solstice 5.4, and both the current version and desired downgrade version must contain this architecture to be downgraded in this way, only Solstice Pods running Solstice version 5.5 can currently be downgraded via Solstice Cloud. Note: To downgrade a Pod that was upgraded directly from Solstice 4.4 or earlier to Solstice 5.5, contact Mersive Support for assistance.

Additional configuration options are now available in Solstice Cloud Management.

  • Upcoming Meeting Notifications options in the Room Intelligence template (Manage > Templates > Room Intelligence) to enable and configure upcoming meeting notifications to appear on the Solstice display if users are still sharing content when a scheduled meeting is about to begin. Admins may choose to display up to two upcoming meeting reminders, with options for how long before the next meeting the notifications appears, as well as the duration they appears on the screen. To use this feature, Solstice Pods must have an integrated room calendar and an active Solstice Subscription.

  • Preferred HDMI Input Resolution in the Advanced template (Manage > Templates > Advanced). This setting allows administrators to configure the preferred input resolution for the HDMI-in port on Gen3 Solstice Pods, selecting from VGA, 720p, or 1080p (default).

  • Change Password option now available in the User menu (located in the top-right corner of the Solstice Cloud portal). When logged into their Solstice Cloud account, users can now change the password for their account.

December 14, 2021

Additional configuration options are now available in Solstice Cloud Management.

  • Disable ICMP pings to the Pod in the Security template (Manage > Templates > Security). This disables the ability to ping the Pod on WAP, Wireless Client, and Network to prevent ICMP/Ping flooding that could lock up the Pod. Available for Solstice 5.0 or later.

  • LLDP for PoE in the Advanced template (Manage > Templates > Advanced). This setting allows a PoE network switch to assign the power priority value of a Solstice Gen3 Pod using LLDP so a Pod can signal and negotiate its power value with the switch. Available for Solstice 5.4 or later. For more information on this feature, see the Solstice 5.4 release notes.

  • Route USB audio to HDMI out in the Features template (Manage > Templates > Features). Admins can now enable an option to direct audio through the Pod’s HDMI outputs even when USB audio devices may be plugged into the Pod. Available for Gen3 Pods on Solstice 5.4 or later.

New ‘Categories’ module on the Manage > Pods > Configuration Settings page for an individual Pod. This module allows admins to more easily assign categories to a Pod when editing the Pod’s settings.

May 25, 2021

USB Device Page. The new USB Device page has been launched to provide visibility into all USB devices that are plugged into Solstice Pods across your deployment, showing online/offline status, current firmware version, and more. USB A/V devices (such as cameras, audio devices, etc.) must be plugged into Pods via USB 2.0 or 3.0. These connected USB A/V devices are required to use features such as Solstice Conference, occupancy data, and occupancy-based power management. For a full list of supported A/V devices, see our supported peripheral list.

April 21, 2021

Category Sorting Options. When filtering by categories (such as Room Type, City, etc.), you can now sort the order in which the category options appear, either by Pod count (default) or alphabetically. In Solstice Cloud, open the filter drawer and expand any category to see a drop-down menu allowing you to choose sort order.

April 14, 2021

Additional configuration options are now available in Solstice Cloud Management.

  • Fully Qualified Name (FQDN) in the Welcome Screen (Manage > Templates > Welcome Screen). For deployments where it’s important to show the FQDN of a Pod in the connection instructions to users, you can now enable this within the Welcome Screen template. Requires Solstice 5.3 or later for support.

  • Disable Captive Portal Checking in the Security template (Manage > Templates > Security). For networks that do not use captive portals and want to disable the URL check that detects captive portals, you can now do so in the Security template. Requires Solstice 5.3 or later for support.

Buildings View is now available in the Location management page (Manage > Location). Now within the table, you can select to view your organization’s list of buildings which shows address, city, country, and number of Pods for each building. You can also edit the building names to a nickname that will be easily recognizable to Solstice users. This provides better visibility into your locations; however, you can still view the list of Pods within the table for more granular information.
